"My research explores one of the most unknown and mysterious themes to the human being, death. My intent is to investigate, the rites and the dynamics which revolve around death, concentrating on the social, cultural and political aspects which we can discern in the contemporary, particularly in western tradition. My reflections are inspired by varied texts. Among these, “Essais sur l’histoire de la mort en occident: du Moyen Age à nos jours” (1975) from the historian Philippe Ariès, and the celebrated philosophical essay, “Surveiller et punir: Naissance de la prison” (1975) of Micheal Foucault. My art practice is not limited by a single medium but evolves according to the different expressive necessities of the work, running primarily towards sculpture. The installation space is conceived as an integral part of my work. It becomes the means to establish a relationship between single elements. The center of my research is based on diverse sensorial stimuli which create an important role to be played by the viewer."
