Ludovica Anversa
Selected Work
Ludovica Anversa (Milan, 1996) is a young Italian artist. She lives and works in Milan, where she got her Bachelor of Arts at NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in 2019. Her paintings result from a layering and erasure process that leads to a continuous redefinition of the image. The traces that emerge from scratched surfaces often coexist with sharp horizons and more defined elements; thus silhouettes and figures in ambiguous relationships are outlined, suspended between reality and fiction, live and inanimate, in a continuous contamination between different levels. What she investigates is the eventuality of a vision that oscillates between the inviting and the repulsive, the sensual and the disturbing, the familiar and the unknown. Sometimes the contrast between rough surfaces and defined zones hovers between abstraction and figuration; recognizable but elusive shapes recur and often suggest twisted and massed bodies, fragmented or doubled, and alienating atmospheres.
